LCFS Curriculum

We welcome children from 2 to 5 years old, learning together in a mixed‑age group. This allows younger children to learn from older role models, while older children develop confidence and leadership as they support their peers.

Our Approach to Learning

Independence is encouraged from the very beginning,  from dressing themselves to taking on age‑appropriate responsibilities as they reach each milestone. At Forest School, children learn to regulate their emotions, navigate risks safely and develop valuable life skills such as tool use and cooking.

Transition to School

School readiness grows organically at Forest School, with children practising early literacy and numeracy, social skills and self‑care while exploring, problem‑solving and working together outdoors.

At Little Crickets, children benefit not only from our dedicated Forest School team but also from being part of the wider Park School community. Our experienced early years practitioners work closely with colleagues across the group to share expertise, ideas and best practice, ensuring every child receives high‑quality support. This collaborative approach helps build strong foundations.

Curriculum Projects and the Community

Community is important to use and we love taking part in Bournemouth in Bloom, a local gardening competition. This year’s theme is “Edible Garden”.

Parent Communication

We use the Ovivio app to keep you connected with your child’s learning. Through it, you can message us, view reports, follow your child’s development and see observations from their time at Forest School. You can also share your own home observations to support milestones and spark new interests. We regularly upload newsletters with updates on learning, upcoming events, stay‑and‑plays and important information such as kit lists and reminder.
